01/02/2021 - New research project approved!

Our group just had a research project approved with a grant from FAPESP. The project will investigate Machine Learning methods for the identification of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with the production of rice grains. This is a project in collaboration with Embrapa Rice and Beans.

29/05/2020 - New research project approved!

Our group just had a research project approved with a grant from Serrapilheira. The project will investigate and propose new evolutionary approaches to automatically evolve deep neural networks. This is a collaboration with Prof. Marcio P. Basgalupp from Federal University of São Paulo.

18/10/2019 - Joel David Costa Junior won an Outstanding Paper Award!

The award was received in the Brazilian Conference on Intelligent Systems (BRACIS) 2019, Salvador, Bahia. The title of the paper was "Novelty Detection for Multi-label Stream Classification", having as co-authors Elaine R. F. Paiva, Jonathan A. Silva, and João Gama. Congratulations Joel and all authors!

30/10/2016 - New international collaboration research project approved!

Our group just had an international research project approved with Prof. Yaochu Jin, Head of the Nature Inspired Computing and Engineering (NICE) group from University of Surrey. The project will investigate multi-objective evolutionary algorithms for hierarchical and multi-label classification problems. The project has a grant from FAPESP and University of Surrey.
